"Godric's Hollow Meets Pine Island (Isolationism)"

When I’m trapped inside Forever Eternal’s Canyon
And the ocean’s flesh salts my past, but dehydrates.
I float away, adorned with possessions, to where the chosen one lived.
As I lie pouting about mankind’s simplest obligations, I must compare and contrast.
For the vine replenishes regularly, and I must suffer a hemorrhage in accordance
(Isolation for the healthy.  Isolation for the sad.)
(Isolation for the lonely.  Isolation, the good’s gone bad.)

Lonely Room’s Corner to my right
Paid dues to my left, and good people everywhere
Faded bracelets, painted polygamy, Nicole’s long-lasting farewell.
As I long for previous chances, the scarless doorstep remembers.
Pine Island, birth of memories, lady and a gentleman, fruitful, and they appreciate me.
(Isolation for the weak.  Isolation for the strong.)
(Isolation I must shriek.  Isolation, the right’s gone wrong.)

Olivia, the red-headed, captivating swan.
Innocent, but embedded in my dreams.
Oh Julia!  The Japanese Maples and Dogwoods bloom involuntarily!
I beg thee, I plead to thee, come to me.
Rain down on me, come, breath, anew me.
As I rest in endless seas, coated with a bronze surface.
The cycle rotates, and I see a wall, covered with positive graffiti.
Only it’s guarding a broken home.
Pine Island is my will and the way.
While enchanted lamp shades darken what could’ve been.
(Isolation when I’m down.  Isolation when I’m up.)
(Isolation all around.  Isolation says I’m nuts.)

Family by blood is stronger than a network, guaranteed.
Family networking, I’m not perfect, but Craig Caron is one sentence, and I’m a never-ending story.
As I lie in a regretful state of mind
The purest definition of courage reveals itself.
While wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Pine Island, Godric’s Hollow, one is dreamy, and one is home.
I choose the romantic way, and a compromise.
(Isolationism because I’m sad.  Isolationism because I’m glad.)
(Isolationism is to blame.  It isn’t, but ignites a flame.)
(Isolationism for growth, but I shrink, because of isolationism.)
(Isolationism is the end.  But it’s also the beginning, because I’m ending isolationism.)

Someday……while
Peace is its name…..and
RAD is its master.

Dream

There's a certain recurring dream of mine which takes place up in my old stomping grounds of Boston. I've had this dream many times throughout the years, and now I find it haunting me for the past two nights. I'm always wandering the streets of Southie, where many of my close friends and I spent the majority of our time in the early 2000's.

Everything looks exactly like I remember it, although time has passed in my dream along with reality. It's always present day, with the acknowledgment of time passed, and it always stars a revolving cast of friends I once held dear. Anyway, I won't bore you with too many details of a dream that only its protagonist would find interesting. But, I will say that I boy I once loved deeply, who was my world for quite a few years, always makes an appearance. It never lasts too long and it's hard to describe the nature of the interaction. It's bittersweet and warm. It feels like getting lost while being found. But it always reminds me of love. So I wrote him a note to say Thank You and I shall post it here:
For the second night in the row, I've dreamt of a time that used to be. Walking down streets past red subway stations and Irish pizzerias. But I realize it's not a journey back in time, it is a journey back in place. For every night that I walk those streets, catching up with familiar faces I thought I'd never see again, we marvel at how long it's been since I've been back to that place. And it's great to see these people.. people whom I hope I'd recognize if I saw them in the waking hours. But then, right on cue, yet somehow unexpectedly, you always show up. Usually on that steep street that overlooks the water if you're standing right at the top of the hill. And we don't know if it's ok to see each other and catch up as friends, though we always want to. And we remind each other that at some point we were family. So we make plans that involve meeting up at a later time that never comes because the hours on my alarm clock pass quicker than those in an imaginary world. But it feels nice, how perhaps it would be if I booked a plane ticket out of curiosity to see if Guinness is still served warm because the owners of that pub are more authentic than those in a land of palm trees. And I don't want to know how real or unreal the vision is, I just want to say thank you. Thanks for showing up. Thanks for the love.

What the World Needs Is More Mothering

Yeah, that's right
More mothering
Everybody out there’s walking around acting big
Looking for appreciation and hoping nobody'll see inside

Well, don't let'em fool you
Doesn’t make any difference if they’re big or small
Important or nobody
They’re just pretending over hurt selves
Because once they grow up no one tells 'em they’re special any more
You know, special in a mothering way
Deep inside they feel empty
And they try to fill up that chlld place by acting confident and smart
Hoping nobody will know they’re not sure all the time

We’re supposed to grow up and act like adults
Strong and all
Impressing everybody with how important we are
But that little child inside just keeps looking for someone to take notice
To say nice things about 'em
Let 'em know they’re all right
That what they do counts
You know, gentle like

Well now
If you don't have any money or some big time job
You still have something to give
That makes you important

All those people out there are looking for a smile
Someone to listen to ‘em
You can do that
You’ve got plenty of that
And it's free, so you can give away all you want

No need to go moving in with ‘em now
Just be nice
No  “Look at me in your face"  attitude
Slap that pearly white shine you got right on 'em
Smile and listen to what they have to say

Take your time now
It's a gift
Remember that
You gotta' give it away without thinking twice
And don't go standing around waiting to get it back
Then you’ll just be lonely too

A Lost Heart

Rest assured when I say “A Lost Heart” it does not mean what you think it means.  It does not imply a lost love, or anything romantic at all.

When my late British West Indian Mom said those words, she usually meant “to give up on something or a person”.  How do those words apply to me as a writer?

Here's my story:

Back in April 2008 (04/05/2008) I started a blog on a site called “Writing Dot Com”.  I did this because I had a co-worker who is an avid writer, had an account there, and recommended it to me.  Like a curious cat, and since I've NEVER been a member of such a site in the past, I decided look into and try it.  First with a free account, then moving on to a paid account, then posting my own personal blog.

Back then my blog was a source of therapy because I was going through many rough areas in my life.  My blog helped me to talk it out.

Back then I had been taking care of my Mom who had been mentally and emotionally ill, for 35 years and was (and still am) working on a job which was/is extremely stressful. Eventually, as one of her old doctors predicted, Mom became much too ill to handle medically and I had to make the decision to place her in a nursing home.  Plus I had to deal with my own personal demons.  So you can best believe I was burning up the keyboard with HEAVY blog entries.

While I was doing this my blog was open for WDC (Writing Dot Com) members who were very supportive and encouraged me to publish my blog as a book.  Why?  Because it would be helpful and encouraging to others who are in the same fix.  I briefly toyed with the idea, but wondered, who would read this?  Who would believe this stuff?  I didn't think anyone would read and take what I have written seriously.

Truly I've re-read some of the stuff and it scared me. Indeed were I to edit and publish this, I might drive readers AWAY instead of TO the book.  Sad to say, those who suffer mental/emotional illness are  considered a pariah to some, and a source of ridicule to others. Yes, even in this day and age.

Unfortunately, on 08/04/2010 my life was “reset” as my Mom passed away at 0400am that morning.  Had it not been for God, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ I would've totally lost my mind.  Since I am her only child, and she had no close relatives, I was the only one left to  make her arrangements.  That's where my Christian family stepped in with helping hands in every area. I am eternally grateful to God and to them for that.  Since then my personal life has about-faced and taken a totally different direction.

What has happened to the blog since then?  I no longer make entries in it.  Why?  I've “lost heart” to continue.  I've lost “the fire in the belly” so to speak.  I am no longer inspired to blog about my life in that manner any longer.  So I have closed the blog.

It kind of saddens me because as I read over some of the past posts. Even though some are horrifying, they are precious and bring tears to my eyes.  Why?  I had unknowingly documented the last three tumultuous years of my Mother's life.  Had I known that, I would've blogged much more about her.  The real person she was before several nervous breakdowns, crippling mental and emotional illness and eventually death, stole her away from me.

Alas, I have lost the opportunity. . . . .

The Broken Heart and Trust

Have you decided never to trust again?
Are you willing to take the risk?
It takes years to build trust and few seconds to destroy it, we are expected to trust our friends, families and loved ones, but it is quite unfortunate that they are the people who stands the better chance of betraying the trust we have in them. Our enemies are out of the question because we would never trust them even for a second.
It really hurts when someone you trust or love, betrays the trust you have in them, from then forth, trust becomes a nightmare, it disappears.
Friedrich Nietzsche once said "I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you". There is this other quote that says " Trust is like a vase once broken, though you can fix it, but the vase will never be the same again".
WHY IS OUR TRUST BETRAYED?
Sometimes we contribute 40% of our problems. When we want people to be who they are not, they pretend to be who we want them to be, when they can't go on with the pretense, we assume that we've been betrayed. The key is to get to know people and trust them to be who they are, instead we trust people to be who we want them to be, and when they're not, we cry.
WHO IS TO BE TRUSTED?
Is it when you need people to be there for you?, they're not.....
They're like million miles away and when you think someone is totally reliable and trust worthy and you've built your whole life around them and then it turns out they were never that person, you see your self as being alone?
Here is the big question, who is to be trusted?
Most times we trust those who doesn't deserve our our trust. People who always do things beyond our expectations to gain our trust should be careful with, because they may be looking for something else. We should be careful with people like that.
DOES ANYONE TRUST ME? If you are reading this article, know that someone trusts you and they would not want you to betray them. It took days, weeks, months, and years to build this trust and you wouldn't want to destroy it in seconds, that was why George MacDonald said "to be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved". Trust is more fragile than love.
CAN WE TRUST?
Yes, we have to trust, William Shakespare wrote, " trust but verify", his short and meaningful quote answers the one question that billions of people in the world seek to find answers to.
Finally, trust but be careful and don't forget William Shakespeare's quote.

Not just another New Year’s resolution

I recently spent a week in a Migraine Clinic. On admittance, I was asked for my goal of the day. A nurse was going to write it on a whiteboard in my room. Stunned, I thought that was obvious: To be pain-free.

To have a goal is one thing but how to get there is quite another. But like the Chinese saying goes:”Every journey begins with the first step.”

You know what I’m getting at if you’re single and reading this. You have tried for a while on your own or the help of well-meaning friends –if you’re lucky- to find that elusive person. Now you’re curious to get some advice from a pro who has occupied herself with matters of the heart for years. At this time of year you read a lot of about New Year’s Resolutions. Everybody seems to be setting them...(and then forget about them after a while). Have you? Did you set yourself goals for 2012 in other areas of your life? How about your love department?

The goal is obvious: Find a partner in crime (marriage, loving relationship, live –in partner, or just delicious sex. Whatever your target may be: someone to wake up with and spend time with, someone to hold your hand for a while, someone to walk hand in hand with. Like with every goal setting you need a step-by-step plan how to get there. And sometimes it’s baby steps you have to make.

With a gazillion self help-books out there reaching from “Dating for Dummies” to “How to Catch a man and Keep him “you certainly have enough material available to start a proper research into the subject matter to get you on your way. Maybe you have done that already?

In my forties I was in your shoes and faced the same predicament. I was divorced, in a foreign country and had two teenage children which slightly complicated the matter. I don’t want you to do what I did and buy a matchmaking company in order to get access to as many available candidates as possible; or, as one journalist phrased it to my utter embarrassment –and that of my children-“To skim the milk of the cream.”

Yeah, in a way that’s what I wanted in spite of the huge price tag attached to it. But at the time there were very few alternatives for separated or divorced -I like to call them recycled- people in Ireland. Ireland had only just legally gotten the divorce in 1996.

You on the other hand have all these agencies out there to be of your assistance - online or personal. (Yes, the personal ones or matchmakers still exist if you prefer one to one personalized service, if a bit more expensive). The choice is yours.

I had fun running the agency, dealing with people, meeting nice clients, learning about life, myself and my own expectations from life. At the same time, I made money and “Combined business with pleasure” as another cheeky reporter put it. You can do the same when signing up with any of these agencies or several if you must. You will learn about yourself not just about the potential partners. You will grow through the experience, it will make you stronger, a more determined, experienced, savvy person, not a more frustrated one, I hope. You may have to do baby-steps, self-scrutiny being one of them. No, that’s a bigger one.

A motto that I learned from one of my older clients should guide you on this journey or quest: the 3 Ls “Living, laughter and loving.”
